CIVILISATION IN CHARACTER FORMATION THROUGH EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

Abstrak

Educational institutions have an important role in shaping the character of students. The formation of character in students is urgent and must be realized to realize the mandate of Law no. 20 of 2003 concerning the functions and objectives of Education. In addition, character education is important because the younger generation is not only required to have academic abilities, but also to have good morality. The purpose of this writing is to explain how the formation of character in the aspect of cultural development through educational institutions must be embedded through the acculturation process in each educational institution. Because without the acculturation process it will be difficult to internalize noble character values in accordance with common goals. The research method in this paper uses the method of literature / literature related to the process and ways of developing culture in character building through educational institutions. This literature research aims to understand the problem in depth and find patterns, hypotheses or theories. Educational institutions have a role to form a culture in cultivating character. Preserving cultural values is very important because it is through culture that human character is formed. One way to carry out the acculturation process to shape character in educational institutions is by having an enculturation process, namely a process related to how humans learn the ways of life, norms and social values that exist in their groups so that they can develop into individuals who can be accepted by their groups. . This learning process is a way to pass on values from generation to generation. So, the measure of the success of learning in the concept of enculturation is a change in the attitude or behavior of students.
