Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) is a form of simplification of the very complex National Examination. AKM measures the minimum abilities students need to learn. The material consists of three components: language literacy, numeracy literacy, and character strengthening. A person's ability to formulate, apply, and interpret mathematics in various situations is known as numeracy ability. This study aims to increase understanding of the concept of Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) with the aim of improving students' numeracy skills. This study was conducted using qualitative research methods. Data collection methods include observation, documentation and interviews. Data analysis techniques involve three stages: data reduction, data delivery, and data verification. The results of data reduction show that schools have not prepared themselves well to implement AKM. This causes students to face difficulties in answering questions. Some students said that the questions given did not match the material studied in class. The research results show that exams are not carried out based on ability to master material according to the curriculum such as national exams. On the other hand, AKM is intended to identify and improve the overall quality of education. The Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) focuses on mastery of the literacy and numeracy competencies that will be measured. Thus, it is hoped that the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) can improve students' numeracy literacy skills.
